The Position

The next Head of School will be expected to develop a strong relationship with the faculty and to lead them in advancing the mission of the school. Maintaining and cultivating the already close, constructive relationship with the Church is critical. The Head will be expected to strengthen the academic program while maintaining the focus on an intentional, play-based curriculum. In a small school like GSES, knowing the students, families, and faculty is critically important.

The Head of School is the sole employee of the Good Shepherd Episcopal School Board of Trustees. As the chief executive officer, the Head is responsible for implementing the School’s policies and procedures including fiscal operations; the academic program; personnel oversight, evaluation, and management; and health and safety protocols. The Head represents the school to internal and external constituencies and communicates regularly to the Board.

Interim Head of School | Raleigh, NC

The Position
St. Mary's School in Raleigh, North Carolina seeks to appoint a two-year interim head of school who would take office by mid-August, 2022, or soon thereafter. St. Mary's is a long-established boarding and day school for over three hundred girls in grades nine through twelve. The school is approximately fifty percent boarding and functions as a seven-day-a-week boarding school. Long-established as a school in the Episcopal tradition, St. Mary's has a strong base of alumnae who loyally support the school, sound financial resources and an outstanding faculty and staff. The interim head of school will reside in Raleigh, preferably on campus in the head of school's residence. The interim head of school will be a long-experienced educator with deep knowledge of independent school governance and boarding school culture who is ready to give leadership to an outstanding school for girls during a period of transition.
